Having an addicted loved one is confusing and disturbing. Your addicted one could be a decent okay person relating to you in a meaningful way. But he or she continues to behave in a grossly self-centered and self-indulgent way. This is damaging to you, to the addicted one and to others involved.

In ‘When Someone You Love is Addicted to Alcohol or Drugs' and in this website I give the understandings you need. The focus is on helping you find ways to care for and help yourself through the situation.

In doing this you will;

Your understandings about yourself and your situation are fundamentally important. Understandings are like a map to take you through difficult territory. It helps greatly to understand that addiction is a love affair with intoxication. It is not caused by other problems. And it helps to understand your loved one can choose to recover by joining a 12 step fellowship and finding his or her personal miracle.

Understandings like this are so important that over the years I have developed some graphics that help people grasp the understandings they need, please watch the video on this page that will introduce you to the graphics used in this website.
